Please see the photos below to live the moments of a gaharu hunter’s life at work. No, scratch that — not any hunter, but rather our 2 best Khmer hunters. It really is amazing how fast these guys work. Good job you two!
The view from the top of the tree, looking down towards the roots.
Starting at the ‘elbow’ of the tree, one of the concentrations areas of Super King grade agarwood.
Can’t neglect the other parts of the tree of course!
Kilos upon kilos of high quality ‘Arab grade’ (i.e. for burning) wood!
Happily working away… our Khmer hunters LOVE what they do, and DO what they love. They haven’t been able to stop smiling!
See what I mean when I said these guys are super efficient? Chopping all day, carving all night. They’ve been here 1 week , and their progress is the same as a ‘typical’ hunting team’s progress at the end of 4-5 weeks.
A lovely Double Super grade piece, which naturally occurred in the shape of a bird..? Swan..? A jester’s hat..?
Our massive pitch-black Super King grade chunks are inside these ‘capsules’ of lighter wood which will be carefully carved away, until all we’re left with is big black chunks.
The ‘queen’… one of the large chunks to be finished tomorrow.
The ‘King’… also to be finished tomorrow.
And here’s a short clip of the carving and cleaning of one of our nice mid-sized Super King grade chunks:
Needless to say, we have a whole lot of high grade wood ready for distillation!
